    HPC enabled R&D

    Presentation Synopsis:

    As the world moves forward in an era of ever increasing data proliferation, the computing requirements associated with research are ever expanding. Exploiting these data often requires the use of High Performance Computing (HPC). The Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) operates Ireland’s national HPC service and provides compute resources and software and domain expertise for research communities and industrial partners. Brief HPC enabled R&D case studies will be presented including sandbox programmes and medical device R&D. Information on open research access and the SME HPC adoption in Europe programme from the Partnership for Advance Computing in Europe (PRACE) will also be presented.

    Speaker Bio:

    Emma graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in Business and Economics in 2004 and has since been awarded an MA in Economic Policy from NUIG, and a H.dip in Statistics from NUIM.

    Since completing university, she has worked as an analyst in the market research sector. She has a variety of analytic experience in industries spanning FMCG, pharmaceuticals, QSR and financial services, across North America and Ireland.

    Emma was delighted to join the data analytics team at ICHEC, as a research associate in August 2012.
