    To the Waters and the Wild: Environmental Research at IT Sligo.

    Presentation Synopsis:
    At IT Sligo, the Centre for Environmental Research Innovation and Sustainability (CERIS) provides a resource for key applied national and international research needs in Applied Ecology and Resource Management. Our expertise includes management of invasive species and high nature value grassland, innovative research on marine and freshwater algae, wastewater treatment optimisation, zooarchaeology and fungal biotechnology. We also focus on renewable energies and sustainable transport systems (https://itsligo.ie/research-innovation/research-welcome/research-centres-and-groups/ceris/). This presentation will scope various CERIS outputs including research, policy and stakeholder engagement.

    Speaker Bio:

    Dr. Frances Lucy is Director of the Centre for Research Innovation and Sustainability (CERIS) at Institute of Technology, Sligo. She is a freshwater biologist, with main research and teaching areas in invasive species, fisheries science, and water quality. Frances is a board member of Inland Fisheries Ireland. She is former Editor-in-Chief for two open access on-line journals, Aquatic Invasions and BioInvasions Records (www.aquaticinvasions.net) and is involved in a wide range of international scientific collaborations https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Frances_Lucy/?ev=hdr_xprf.
